Overview

The Pancake Manor is a distinctive gem nestled in the heart of Brisbane City at 18 Charlotte Street. More than just a pancake restaurant, it’s an institution that has been delighting locals and visitors for over three decades. Housed in a beautifully converted church, the unique architectural design forms a breathtaking backdrop — with vaulted ceilings, charming brick walls, classic chandeliers, and a central bar that effortlessly blends old-world charm with a welcoming atmosphere.

This venue offers a perfect blend of comfort and style, appealing to a wide range of patrons. Whether you’re a late-night owl seeking a cozy retreat after a night shift, a family gathering, a solo diner craving some quiet time, or a group of friends catching up, The Pancake Manor caters seamlessly to diverse needs. Its round tables foster easy conversation for large groups, while the snug church pews offer intimate seating options.

When it comes to the menu, The Pancake Manor shines with its variety and quality. The pancakes themselves are famously soft and fluffy, served with a range of mouth-watering toppings and sides that balance both sweet and savory cravings. Signature dishes like the Blackforest Cherry and Lemontyne pancakes embrace rich, indulgent flavors — think chocolate pancakes with cherry brandy sauce or buttermilk pancakes with lemon and cream. The Chocolate Jewels take the decadence a notch higher, delivering a velvety texture enriched by melting chocolate and chocolate sauce that has won the heart of many regulars.

Beyond pancakes, the menu offers notable mentions such as Vegetarian Nachos, savory sauces including hollandaise and aioli, and indulgent beverages like Flat White, Chai Latte, and Hot Chocolate. Their renowned buttermilk pancakes can also be paired with sweet treats like grilled banana with butterscotch or crystallized sugar and cream, offering a range of experiences for different taste preferences.

One standout aspect frequently praised by patrons is the 24/7 operation. This feature makes The Pancake Manor an essential Brisbane hub for diverse crowds—from insomniacs and shift workers to families and night revelers. The friendly, efficient service complements the inviting setting, ensuring that your dining experience is both smooth and refreshing.

The interior, while evocative and charming, may feel a bit dim for some, but it adds to the manor’s medieval ambiance. Cleanliness and practicality have not been overlooked, with well-maintained restrooms located conveniently downstairs. The use of QR codes for menus enhances ordering efficiency without disrupting the warm, old-world atmosphere.

Ultimately, The Pancake Manor stands out not just for its delicious and generous pancakes but for its unique fusion of history, atmosphere, and community spirit. It’s a place where you don’t merely eat—you experience Brisbane’s local culture within the embrace of a heritage space. Whether you’re after a hearty breakfast, a comforting late-night snack, or simply a memorable setting to unwind, this longstanding landmark delivers in every aspect.

We made a booking for Saturday lunch. The interior of the place is quite special. Crepe and savory is an interesting combination. Pancakes were nice and soft. Traditional flavour is my personal preference.

Firstly great this place is open 24/7! Came here for a snack and pudding: Ordered some chips from the sides menu (they were HUGE definitely enough to share!) We also ordered the Black Forest Cherry pancakes and the Lemontyne pancakes! Pancakes were super filling, tasted really good and looked great! The building is an old church and it feels very medieval! Would probably be great to visit if you’re studying and need to pull an all nighter or if you need to reset your sleep schedule after a night shift! Definitely will visit again!

Chocolate Jewels ($19.95): It’s the best pancake I’ve ever tasted in my entire life. The chocolate melts scoop on top and chocolate sauce create an outstanding texture and extra creamy flavour. The pancakes also have soft and sweet taste and are in great portion size. In addition, the architectural design and decor of the place is relatively classic and breathtaking to take pictures. It’s awe-inspiring that all the lights being chandeliers and the interior enclosed by brick walls and old school styled ornaments. There are quite a few tables inside and the bar situated in the middle makes the atmosphere perfect to stay. Overall, it’s a 10 out of 10! FYI, you can scan the QR code to see the menu on your phone screen and ask the staff to order. There is a water station and the restrooms are on the basement floor.

I’ve always wanted to try The Pancake Manor as it’s a bit of a “local legend” here in Brisbane! It’s been around for a very long time, I’ve possibly walked past many times over the years. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect? But I can say once you walk inside you will be pleasantly surprised, & you won’t find another place quite like this one! It’s an old converted church with a lot of history, the vaulted ceiling is amazing, there’s a lot of quirky details & features to take in while you eat. The service was very quick, super efficient & friendly, they certainly know what they are doing service wise. You don’t have to have their famous fluffy pancakes with hot maple syrup , they do have other food options available, or you can add the pancakes to anything. They can cater for larger groups with ease, booking ahead of time would be advised. The central round tables are great for big families, work colleagues & work lunches, or with a bunch of friends. I dined solo so I was given the cute church pew option to the side, the pews snuggly fits 4 people comfortably. It’s open 24/7 which is super convenient for late night revellers stumbling home from The Valley, mums with their kids, pensioners, insomniacs, hardworking shift workers & taxi drivers. The restrooms were very clean & well maintained. The Manor was much more than I had anticipated, the service was great, my pancakes delivered & were the comfort food I had anticipated they would be, but The Manor’s atmosphere & beautiful building is undeniably it’s secret sauce, unique to Brisbane & very special. Don’t delay like I did, grab a friend, take a child or treat yourself to a bit of one on one quiet time! Do try it out & support this iconic Brisbane institution. I’m looking forward to visiting again.

We had walked past here a few times and joked that we should visit at 2/3am! However, we are lucky to visit this venue during lunch time hours to enjoy a meal. The staff were nice and the service was great for the packed restaurant that was. I may recommend making a reservation to ensure there is a table. It was great to sit back and enjoy the building and the company. The food was nice, and the serving size was relatively large. It is nice that it is in the middle of town, so it is nice to go for a walk around before/after the meal. Thank you, team, and I look forward to visiting when I'm next in Brisbane
